My name is Martine Lleonart.
I am a freelance book editor and project manager specialising in illustrated non-fiction. Food, gardening and craft are my passions, and I bring a depth of knowledge to every book I work on. I have been working in the publishing industry for over two decades, both in-house and as a freelance editor. My clients include trade publishers as well as not-for-profit organisations, both here in Australia and internationally. I have worked with publishers including Thames & Hudson, Simon & Schuster, Plum Books, Hardie Grant Books, Penguin, Allen & Unwin, Random House, UQP and Murdoch Books.

STRUCTURAL EDITING
Structural edits are my favourite aspect of the publishing process. A good structure is integral to a successful manuscript, whether it be literary fiction, illustrated non-fiction, a cookbook or a graphic novel. Whether you're building a book from the ground up or just need a fresh eye cast over your manuscript, I can bring to your book what you need.

STYLE
Style is an essential element in creating a seamless read, whatever the genre. I have twenty-plus years experience with creating style guides for international co-editions and tailoring text for specific regional markets. I frequently work with metric/Imperial conversions for the international cookbook market.
FOOD
I have been working in food publishing for over two decades. I’m available for editing and project management of books including commissioning, , recipe development, styling, organising photoshoots and writing food style guidelines. Bread, baking and vegetarian cooking are particular passions of mine.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Having worked in the industry for over two decades, I have a deep understanding of what it takes to make a book a success. I've worked in every aspect of publishing from commissioning and briefing writers, illustrators and photographers through to laying out books in InDesign. I love to nurture books through the process from submission to publication and I am able to manage projects and staff (including sourcing).


CONTENT CREATION
Whether it's zhooshing up copy, throwing together captions, writing recipes or coming up with fun ideas for a craft project, I bring enthusiasm to every book that I work on. My first book was published in 2017 and my work has been published internationally in newspapers and magazines, as well as through numerous guest blogs.
